Amended legislation

• Extended hotel and club trading - Beijing Olympics
  

  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended trading hours for hotels and clubs for some nights during the Beijing Olympics.

• The new Liquor Regulation 2008 (PDF 755kb) has been made by the Governor, and was published in the 27 June edition of the Government Gazette. The Regulation commences on 1 July 2008 along with the new Liquor Act 2007, and contains laws to support the operation of the Act.

• New Liquor Laws - The Government's wide ranging reforms to the NSW liquor laws and regulatory framework were passed by the NSW Parliament on 5 December 2007. These laws will come into force from 1 July 2008.
• Extended hotel trading - 2008 International Cricket Series
  To allow patrons to watch broadcasts hotel Sunday trading hours are to be extended during the 2008 international cricket series involving Australia and India during February and March.
• Extended hotel trading - 2007 Rugby World Cup finals matches
  To allow patrons to watch broadcasts hotel trading hours are to be extended during the 2007 Rugby World Cup finals.
• Extended hotel trading - various Sundays 2007 and 2008
  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended trading hours for hotels until midnight for various Sundays in 2007 and 2008.
• Gambling (Two-up) Amendment Regulation 2007
  The Regulation was signed by the Governor on 25 July August 2007 and commenced upon gazettal on 3 August 2007.
• Extended hotel trading - Asian Cup Football final - Sunday 29 July 2007
  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended trading hours for hotels until midnight on Sunday 29 July 2007, the night of the Asian Cup Football final.
• Extended hotel trading - Queen's Birthday public holiday eve
  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended Sunday trading hours for hotels until midnight on 10 June 2007, the eve of the Queen's Birthday public holiday.
• Extended hotel trading - Easter Sunday 2007
  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended Sunday trading hours for hotels until midnight on Easter Sunday, 8 April 2007.
• Liquor Amendment (Sunday Trading) Regulation (No 3) 2006
  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended trading hours for hotels until midnight on Sundays in January and February 2007 during the Commonwealth Bank International Cricket Series.
• Gaming Machines Amendment (Retail Shopping Centres) Regulation 2006
  This regulation was signed by the Governor on 20 December 2006, and commenced upon gazettal on 22 December 2006.
• Registered Clubs Amendment Act 2006
  The Act received assent on 27 November 2006, and is being implemented in stages. Stage one provisions and an associated regulation - Registered Clubs Amendment (Exceptions to 5 kilometre Rule) Regulation 2006 - commenced on 22 December 2006. Other provisions in the Act (including changes to club amalgamations, financial reporting provisions, disposal of club property, and club elections) will take effect once supporting regulations have been prepared. Work on the regulations will occur early in 2007, and will be undertaken in close consultation with the Club Industry Working Group.
• Registered Clubs Amendment Bill 2006
  The Bill was introduced into the NSW Parliament on 14 November 2006. The Bill proposes changes to club amalgamations, club governance, financial reporting and disclosure requirements, and the disposal of club property.
• Race fields legislation supports NSW racing industry
  The Racing Legislation Amendment Bill 2006 was introduced into the NSW Parliament on 20 October 2006.
• Extended Sunday hotel trading - 2006 NRL Grand Final
  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended trading hours for hotels until midnight on Sunday 1 October 2006 for the 2006 NRL grand final.
• Gambling (Two-up) Amendment Regulation 2006
  The regulation was signed by the Governor on 9 August 2006 and commenced upon gazettal on 11 August 2006.
• Extended hotel trading for the 2006 FIFA World Cup
  Amendments to the Liquor Act 1982 allow hotels to trade until 1am on selected days for Stage 1 World Cup matches only.
• The Gaming Machines Amendment (Payment of Prize Money) Regulation 2006
  Following an amendment to the Gaming Machines Regulation 2002, the threshold for payment of prizes by cheque or electronic funds transfer has increased from $1000 to $2000.
• Extended Easter Sunday hotel trading
  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended trading hours for hotels until midnight on Easter Sunday, 16 April 2006.
• Gaming Machines Amendment (Miscellaneous) Regulation 2006
  The Regulation commenced on 3 February 2006.
• New regulation - Casino Control Amendment (Miscellaneous) Regulation 2005
  This regulation was approved by the Governor on 14 December 2005. It was gazetted on 16 December 2005 and commences on 1 January 2006.
• Extended Sunday hotel trading for New Year's Day and the 2006 Commonwealth Games
  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended trading hours for hotels until midnight on the following Sundays: 1 January, and 19 and 26 March 2006.
• Extended Sunday hotel trading
  The Minister for Gaming and Racing has approved extended trading hours for hotels until midnight on the following Sundays: 11 December 2005, 15, 22 and 29 January, and 5 and 12 February 2006.
• Commencement of the Gaming Machines Amendment Act 2005
  The Gaming Machines Amendment Act 2005 was introduced to make a range of miscellaneous amendments to the Gaming Machines Act 2001 and the Casino Control Act 1992.

  The Gaming Machines Amendment (Miscellaneous) Regulation 2005 was signed by the Governor on 19 October 2005, and commenced upon gazettal on 21 October 2005.
• Casino Control Amendment (Display of Notices) Regulation 2005
  The Casino Control Amendment (Display of Notices) Regulation 2005 was signed by the Governor on 19 October 2005, and commenced upon gazettal on 21 October 2005.
• Gambling (Two-up) Regulation 2005
  The Gambling (Two-up) Regulation 2005 was signed by the Governor on 10 August 2005 and commenced upon gazettal on 12 August 2005.
• Gaming Machines Amendment Regulation 2005
  The Gaming Machines Amendment Regulation 2005 was signed by the Governor on 13 July 2005, and commenced upon gazettal on 15 July 2005.
• Casino Control Amendment (Gambling Inducements) Regulation 2005
  The Regulation was signed by the Governor on 6 July 2005, and commenced upon gazettal on 8 July 2005.
• Free water mandatory from 1 August 2004
  From 1 August 2004 onwards, it is a condition of a liquor licence and a certificate of registration that free drinking water must be available to patrons at all times liquor is sold or supplied.
