Help for problem gamblers
There is a wide range of free, confidential and effective help throughout NSW for people with gambling problems, or for those who are family or friends of a person who might have a gambling problem.
All of it is available via the 24 hour, seven day a week, G-line (NSW) telephone assistance and referral service on freecall 1800 633 635.
Problem gamblers and their families can also access a range of support and self-help options by going to www.gamblinghangover.nsw.gov.au
This site, which is funded through the Responsible Gambling Fund, includes:
- A quiz to assess whether your gambling is a problem.
- A 'gambling calculator' to assess your likely losses over a year.
- A searchable database of gambling support and counselling services throughout NSW.
- A range of materials, including a free practical workbook, for you to order or download.
- A free text message service, where you can subscribe to SMS reminder prompts at times when you are most likely to gamble.
- Video and written stories from people with gambling problems with their perspectives and advice.
