Hon Graham West MP

The Minister - Hon Graham West MP

Mr Graham West was appointed as the Minister for Gaming and Racing on 2 April 2007.

The portfolio includes responsibility for gaming, racing, liquor and charities. The Minister for Gaming and Racing is also responsible for the Sydney Casino and NSW lotteries.

About the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing

The NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing is part of the Department of the Arts, Sport and Recreation. The office regulates four industry sectors - liquor, gaming, racing and charities.

We conduct education programs, ongoing monitoring, and compliance action where appropriate, to ensure these industries operate in the public interest and with the highest level of integrity. We also work in partnership with industry and our stakeholders to develop policies and strategies to minimise the potential social harm associated with liquor and gaming activities.

One of our most significant achievements to date has been to help establish, support and develop more than 134 liquor accords throughout the state. Liquor accords are voluntary industry-based partnerships working in local communities to introduce practical solutions to liquor-related problems. They reach agreements on ways to improve the operation of licensed venues so that entertainment venues and precincts are safe and enjoyable.

Our services are provided through our head office in Sydney and regional offices in Newcastle, Dubbo and Wagga.

We also provide secretariat and administrative support to the Responsible Gambling Fund and the Casino, Liquor and Gaming Control Authority.
